Kaitlyn King
LMFT, ATR; she/they
therapist + art therapist
I am passionate about walking alongside individuals, families, and couples as they deepen self-awareness and expand their persective to create meaningful changes internally and externally in their lives.
Through a creative, holistic blend of art and talk therapy, I support my clients to access and integrate mind, body and spirit in service of deeper healing, connection, and personal + collective growth.
I also believe that…
You are worthy, you belong in this world, and you are stronger than you think. We all experience some combination of “little t” and “big T” traumas just by making our way through life, and these experiences can lead you to construct a story about yourself that is anything but empowering. Part of my role is to mirror your strengths and your worth back to you— to remind you of the truth about yourself, despite what your parents, friends, partners, church, and society have told you.
You do not need to be an artist to do, enjoy, and benefit from art therapy. I invite you to bring your child-like self to our sessions, and I’ll give you tools to help you set aside self-judgment, perfectionism and comparison, that will serve you in all areas of life. There is no wrong way to be creative.
You are deserving of the same love you give to others. Our society and religions often encourage us (especially womxn and anyone of a marginalized identity) to walk an unbalanced life, focusing more on others than ourselves. Therapy is a space where you can love and focus on yourself in an unapologetic way. My hope is that therapy will show you how beneficial it is to focus on yourself and explore what it looks like to bring this into your day-to-day. Self-love is the necessary foundation for any other kind of meaningful love.
You are the expert in the room. You know your story, your culture, and your relationships more than I do. My desire as I work with you is to cultivate open communication and transparency: if something is not clicking in session, I always encourage you to bring it up with me. My goal isn’t to be a great therapist for just anyone and everyone, but to learn what it means to be YOUR best therapist. We are a collaborative team working towards the same goals, learning and shifting as we go.
My purpose at The Gaia Center is to create and hold a safe space for you to discover your most brave, kind, unapologetic, and confident self and to support couples and families to deepen connection and compassion by getting unstuck from unhelpful patterns.
I am particularly passionate about working systemically (with both internal and external systems) work with issues including (but not limited to) spiritual trauma, identity exploration, LGBTQ+ related issues, relational conflict, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression.
In my work, I take a person-centered and strengths-based approach, and integrate art therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, narrative therapy, and IFS/parts work.

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me either watching Survivor and the Bachelor/Bachelorette or out in nature with my husband, our son, and two dogs, Toph and Goose. As a Libra, I value balance. I craft-fully split my self-care time in between connecting with all things outdoors (paddle boarding, hiking, climbing, oh my!) and all things pop culture (laughing at memes, reality TV rabbit holes on Instagram, and catching up on the newest Netflix series).
