Cassie Meredith
MA, A/LPC-MHSP, MT-BC; she/her
therapist
I am called to be a counselor because I appreciate that all people can get trapped in unjust and hostile systems, and sometimes, we need a little unconditional love and an outside perspective to uncover our full, authentic selves. My goal as a therapist is to meet you where you are, turn on the lights, and discover where we go from here..
I believe that…
Nothing exists in a vacuum. Politics, race, gender identity, age, size, neurodivergence, spirituality, your physical environment, your trauma… all of it impacts you in uniquely personal ways. Social justice and mental health go hand-in-hand because your struggles are impacted by the chaotic and messy world around you. I may not match your exact intersectionality, but I am honored that I get to walk with you as you explore all your pieces and advocate for your best life.
Community and connection are essential for flourishing. Human beings are meant to love and to be loved! It might be tough to recognize it at times, but that also means that YOU are meant to love and be loved. Building healthy relationships with friends, family, and with yourself can help you feel seen, heard, and cherished. And you deserve to be cherished
Therapy can be creative and fun! Some people dread therapy because they imagine laying on an uncomfortable leather couch while someone asks you questions about your mother. And while I might ask you questions about your mother (if you want me to), therapy can also involve music, art, dance, board games, theater, laughter, and joy! We can make your sessions as interactive and fun as you want them to be
There is a life worth living out there for you; it just might be difficult to build it. Therapy can be hard; I’m not going to lie. Doing the inner work, healing relationships, being vulnerable, exploring trauma, and breaking down those patterns can be frustrating and terrible. Some days will hurt, and that’s okay. Some days, we will push; some days, we will rest and hold space and breath. We will get through the pain together, and I will do my best to help settle you before you leave each session. You are strong enough to do this, I promise! Try to believe me, even on the hard days.
My purpose at the Gaia Center is to help you feel deeply connected: with yourself, with others, and with the world around you.
I work with adults and teens individually, as well as working with families as a whole. I’m also passionate about the power of group therapy.
I love working with parent-child dynamics, intellectualizers and perfectionists, newly-diagnosed neurodivergent adults, and people who are wanting to integrate creativity into sessions.
In my sessions, I utilize the following techniques as needed/requested: music therapy, somatic (body-based) therapy, mindfulness practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, internal family systems, collaborative problem solving, and relational therapy.
Credentials + Trainings
Cassie holds a bachelor’s degree and license in Music Therapy from Belmont University, and a Masters of the Arts in Counseling from Touro University Worldwide. Human First…
When I’m not working, you can find me in one of three places: at the public library picking up new books, outside on a hiking trail, or squirreled away with my latest craft. I’m currently obsessed with books by TJ Klune and VE Schwab, and I have recently started learning how to sew! I volunteer with the Friends of Warner Park’s birding program and youth nature club, and I am in year six of playing Dungeons and Dragons with my best friends. I am a crow when it comes to picking up fun facts and shiny new trinkets; feel free to drop by with your best knowledge any time you see me in the office!
