But For Real Episode 21: Living Your Activism Series: Ella Magers is a Voice for the Animals

In this episode, we have our first installment of a special new mini series titled Living Your Activism.

In this series, we're talking to activists and advocates across a wide variety of missions and passions about how they found their thing, what they do to stay grounded and connected with joy amidst all the chaos in the world, and what it means to truly live their activism, not just as a checkbox or some burnout inducing giant commitment, but as something that's interwoven throughout their life in a nourishing, sustainable way.

This episode covers:

Tea & Crumpets

Emerson recently tried an at-home hair glaze for the first time, and it helped her feel like her gorgeous red hair was revived. While you can also easily get a glaze/gloss done in a salon, doing it at home was an affordable option, and Em loved the results.

Step Into My Office: Is it possibly to experience seasonal depression in the summer?

A listener wrote in about how she has been feeling “off” ever since the transition from spring to summer, despite her previous excitement for the season change. Emerson shared that she has been experiencing similar feelings and encourages anyone else struggling with seasonal mood changes to “zoom out” and look at what other factors may be at play, aside from just the weather. She also recommends intentionally sharing these feelings with other people in your life so that you can feel less alone, as well as planning some low-stakes enjoyable activities – like getting a sub from Publix and sitting near a pool or making a fun summer smoothie.
